Can I come along? On leash

About Sandskulptur Søndervig

Here my humans and I experience the annual sand sculpture exhibition, where artists create detailed figures and a 200-metre-long sand sculpture wall with a new theme every year. I get to come along on a leash, and on the grounds there are tables, benches and a big sandbox where children and grown-ups can try building in sand themselves.

What do other dogs and their humans say?

“Woof, my friends! One day, my humans took me to Sandskulpturfestival i Søndervig, where I discovered something amazing… Giant sculptures made entirely from sand! I couldn’t believe my eyes. Humans can build castles… but these artists build dragons, animals, people, and incredible scenes that look almost too beautiful to be made from ordinary sand.

The best news? Dogs are welcome too! As long as we stay on our leash, we can explore all the fantastic sculptures with our humans. Now, I have to confess… Walking through all that lovely soft sand was a real test of my self-control. My humans kept reminding me: “Wilma… don’t pee on the sand.” “Wilma… don’t poop on the sand.” “Wilma… absolutely NO rolling around!” Seriously? There was soft sand everywhere! Do humans have any idea how wonderful sand feels on a fluffy Golden Retriever? Apparently, the sculptures are works of art… Not giant dog playgrounds. I behaved myself… Mostly.

When we visited, there wasn’t a water station for dogs. The festival isn’t very large, so it’s easy enough to bring fresh water in the car. I always appreciate a nice drink after an exciting walk, especially on warm summer days.

Beware of the Parking Trolls! There was only one creature we didn’t actually see…The Parking Trolls. My humans were sure they’d parked correctly, but when we came back, a parking ticket had mysteriously appeared! So if your humans visit, remind them to double-check the parking rules before setting off to admire the sculptures. The Parking Trolls seem to enjoy surprising visitors…

Sandskulpturfestival i Søndervig is a wonderful place for curious dogs and their humans. The sculptures are amazing, the paths are easy to walk, and it’s a lovely stop if you’re visiting Denmark’s beautiful west coast.

Just remember three important things:
✔ Bring some fresh water.
✔ Keep your paws (and everything else!) away from the sculptures.
✔ Don’t let the Parking Trolls catch your humans!”
